Between Departures

What if an architect, an interior designer, a fine artist, and a designer participated in a photography exhibition

aboard a ferry alongside photographers? Imagine a moving gallery where different artistic

perspectives converge, redefining the relationship between the lens, space, movement, and design. Each artist

sees the world through a unique lens an architect captures the structure, rhythm, and the balance, while an

interior designer frames the interplay of light, color and texture. A fine artist transforms moments into visual

poetry, focusing on abstraction and interpretation.

Meanwhile, the photographers bring their own distinct approaches one documenting reality with a sharp eye

for detail, another using photography as a medium of expression and experimentation, and the third blending

documentary with conceptual storytelling. Together, they create a dialogue where photography, design,

architecture, and fine art harmonize within the ever shifting landscape of the open sea, turning the ferry itself

into a vessel of artistic exploration.

Growing up in a coastal city, boats were always part of the daily view always there, always moving. Leaving

Saudi Arabia to study abroad was a big change, and while New York felt like the right place, it was nothing like

home. Yet, both cities share iconic waterfronts, a mix of cultures, and nonstop energy. Many people in New

York balance life between two places, always missing one when they’re in the other. This exhibition captures

that feeling of being in between always heading somewhere but never quite leaving the past behind.

By turning an ordinary ferry ride into an immersive experience, the exhibition invites passengers to discover

images that blend the movement of the city with personal landscapes. Art becomes part of the journey, a quiet

moment of reflection in the midst of transit reminding us that memory and place are always shifting but never

completely lost.
